In the pivotal year of 2035, health ministers from around the world gathered in Geneva for a critical meeting of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). The room was filled with a palpable sense of urgency and determination as they discussed the latest progress towards eliminating polio once and for all. While there had been significant strides made over the past decade, with fewer than one thousand reported cases in 2034, pockets of resistance remained, particularly in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The ministers pledged their continued support for the GPEI's efforts to reach every last child with the life-saving polio vaccine. They also acknowledged the importance of addressing underlying issues, such as conflict, poverty, and lack of access to healthcare, that continue to hinder eradication efforts. As they left the meeting, the ministers were filled with renewed hope and commitment, knowing that together, they could finally bring an end to this crippling disease.
